A start on indie-web
Hey guys, how are you? I hope you're all doing well! So, I think it's a good idea to start this off with a little introduction to how I got here.
So, last night, in the midst of common insomnia for me 1, I was scrolling through my YouTube timeline when I came across a video called "Basic Guide To The Personal Web", from the channel "Psychcool". I confess that I didn't watch the video completely, but what I saw sparked a great interest in this world that I had never known about before, or, more realistically, simply ignored its existence (who still posts BLOGS BRO!?). I was interested because I have this idea that social media today is AWFUL for our psychology, with short videos, crazy algorithms, it's all crazy designed to hypnotize you more and more and more... until your brain turns into complete jelly.
I would honestly love to be able to completely escape from this, in fact, I've done it a few times, I uninstalled tiktok and twitter 2, and back when Instagram didn't have "reels" yet, everything was perfect, without hyperstimulating distractions, just being a normal human being. But little by little I started giving the "tiktok of insta" a chance or two, when I realized - BAM! The shitty hyperstimulation of the moment (YIIIEEEEEEIII).
But, my dream career is to be a designer, and I believe it's impossible to work in this field without being connected to these great digital networks, I need to be recognized on these networks to have clients. And even if I were to work for just one company, inspiration often comes from these places, so it's a complicated relationship. A terrible place but one that will be necessary for me in the future.
"Okay, okay, you'll need them in the future and all - blah blah blah - but then why don't you just get rid of them for now, and only come back when you need them?"
Because I don't think that's the right solution. I mean, when you have an addiction, you don't end it by forcing yourself to never do it again all of a sudden! You go aa ... --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- ---------
